Grace Olesen, daughter of Steve and Ronda Olesen will be one of the contestants in the Palo Alto Fair Queen Contest this year.
In school, Grace has been involved in basketball, track, football cheerleading, wrestling cheerleading, drama club, speech, FFA, Graettinger Terril Student Council, National Honor Society, and yearbook committee. She was the class president for three years while on the student council and held the position of Service Chair her senior year of National Honor Society.
Her community work includes being a member and current president of the Graettinger Pirates 4H Club. She is a member of the Palo Alto County Council where she is the vice president. She attends and volunteers at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, works at the Graettinger Pool as a lifeguard, and is currently a summer intern at the KICD radio station.
Grace has been at 3.5 or above for her GPA all four years of high school. She competed in AG. Broadcasting for FFA and made it to state placing 4th. She has lettered in sports and won many academic all conference awards.
"In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and my family, especially my 3 nieces. I enjoy swimming and giving swim lessons, ice skating, and watching movies."
In the future Grace plans on attending the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders to become a Speech Therapist and work with young kids in schools.
This year at the fair she will show a Market Steer as a livestock exhibit and a Child Development Project as a static exhibit. She has also worked with other County Council members to put on many of the fun activities that happen during the fair.
