Graettinger was one of 10 communities selected to participate in the 2018 Iowa's Living Roadways Community Visioning Program.  During the year-long process, a steering committee worked through program, 1) initiation, 2) needs assessment and goal setting, 3) development of a concept plan and 4)  implementation and sustained action.  The committee also pulled in residents from five groups (actives, mobility impraired, older adults, youth and parents) to participate in focus groups to determine transportation barriers and the community needs.  A walking/biking trail was their most desired improvement.  The City and Visioning Committee were awarded grant funding in 2019 to begin Phase 1 of the trail. Additional phases in and around Graettinger will be added as funding is secured.  If you would like to donate to the Trails Project, email angies@ncn.net  for more information
